[Woodcarver] willow

Doug,

Nice gallery of carvings. I especially liked the woodspirits.

To my knowledge and in my experience, willow is not toxic, BUT... any wood species can be toxic to any individual. Also, if the wood is spalted <has stains from fungi> or has an insect infestation, it may be toxic to you where a "clean" piece would not. If you're power carving especially, wear a mask regardless. If you have breathing difficulties and/or skin rashes while working it, then put it on the list of woods you're allergic to, and for you, it's toxic. In general though, willow does not have a reputation for being toxic.
