Jan,

Glad you and Thea are home safe from the GOW. Me missed you on The List!

I'm currently working on a commission to repair an antique Black Forest Bear carving (umbrella stand). I'm finding repairs already done by others... some good... some not so good. The piece definitely has a history. Somewhen it must have been doing duty at a tavern in a very rough part of some city. It's whispering to me, but I only catch small phrases now and then. Meanwhile, I re-carve the bear's bottom jaw which was MIA from the bottom incisors out, most of the branch that formed the umbrella holding hoop, and the branch the bear cub stands on together with half the cub's foot.

More portable projects are a mermaid in butternut from Shawn Cipa's new book, a Cardinal for my mother-in-law <Christmas present>, and a Jule Tomte on a kick sled. I'm resurfacing and upgrading the woodworker's bench I built 10 years ago. I still need to finish the clay model for the centaur and get ready for a woodcarving show in Syracuse on the 15th of October. Oh yeah, and I still owe Matt an article for the WOM.

Keep on Carvin'

Its been a while sinds we asked this question
Now that fall is upon us we got git mov'n
I did carve an egg at the GOW and Thea wanted to see it so I had to carve one here as I did NOT take a picture of the first one
But I did take one of the second one and it can be seen in my P T Album under GPO 2001 (second album)
I STILL do NOT get any posts from the Carvingfun list
Is old Joe away, or sleeping ??
