Merryl,
I have bought basswood and a bit of other carving woods from Tuckaway Lumber in
Lyme NH, USA. http://www.tuckawaytimber.com/
I know they come to many of the New England shows with a trailer of wood, and I
have been to their shop in Lyme NH (close to nothing else!!) They are good
folks to deal with and have great wood for sale. I'm just a happy customer, but
give them a call to see if they ship to NS and what the price might be. If you
are doing small stuff, he sells smaller pieces of bass/cherry/butternut/etc at
shows for very cheap money. Tell him what you might want and see if he can help.
He is very likely to be in attendance at the Maine Woodcarvers show in October
on columbus day weekend if you have any plans to visit Maine during the fall.
Best wishes!
