"What a great plan you have for fixing up a shop in your garage. Is it heated or have a wood stove for those cold winters or will you just carve in the kitchen as I usually end up doing? This is a fun time for the family to be doing stuff together! I am sure you will all enjoy! Keep us posted!"
Unfortunately - the garage currently has no heat. It did have hot-water baseboard heat but that zone was disabled long ago and the lines cut. I assume there must have been a break in the lines where then went through the concrete floor that couldn't be repaired. I would eventually like to replace the garage door with a better insulated one, and install a heater (propane, or electric) at some point. But with four kids and one starting college I have a feeling that will be a ways off. <sigh> So when it gets too cold to work there, we'll move to the basement (unfinished, but we use it for laundry and TV room).
The garage is currently used as lawn tool, bicycle, and general storage area and is a mess. I am hoping to get it cleaned out over the next couple weeks, and hang my old kitchen cabinets (redone last year) that are currently cluttering the floor. That will make it possible to actually clear some floor space and organize my tools and work space. I need to create some sort of floor on top of the concrete that will be more tool & leg friendly for the area to be our carving bench area. We'll see what time and financial resources will allow.
Well, that's the plan anyway.
Chuck
