[Woodcarver] newby

I just joined this list today and am new to woodcarving. I just retired from 
public school teaching and wood carving is something I've always wanted to 
try. Now I have the time to indulge and find I love it! I've purchased a few 
knives and gauges, a few books and some wood and have been teaching myself. 
So far, I haven't located any classes around here to take (mid-Michigan) but 
have heard of a couple local groups I'm going to check out soon.

So far I've done a boot, a dog, 2 "shelf elfs," a wood spirit and just 
finished a wizard from a book by Shawn Cipa. What fun!
