Hi Diane, and welcome to the list! Congrats on retiring from teaching,
it is a wonderful profession but getting tougher by the day as rules and
kids change, often NOT for the better! LOL!
One good source to check out is a fellow Michigander, Matt Kelley's
website, here:
http://www.carverscompanion.com/
Follow the various links to the carvers E-Zine, ten years of free and
facinating information. Also, the carvers resource files will keep you
busy reading for hours and hours! When you're done with that, take a
deep breath and start on Matts personal site as well as the carvers
exchange site, both have some pretty good stuff in there as well!
If you finish THAT assignment, go on over to Lora Irish's website and
spend a few dozen more hours reading and admiring her patterns and
follow her wonderful step by step carving intro examples! here:
http://www.carvingpatterns.com/
If we haven't bored you to death, there are lots more wonderful websites
of facts, information and just plain "good stuff!" to be found. Follow
the links at the bottom of our list member pages as you see them, we
have some terrific carvers in the group.
Enjoy your time carving and seeing what others do, ask questions and
again, Welcome to the best group of folks you will ever meet!
