[Woodcarver] "Workshop" progressing . . . slowly!

Chuck,
I feel your pain...honest! That looks like my basement did before I cleared
it out for a small shop and a place for the kids to play. There's no "one
stall storage area" at my place. What I did to free up the basement area,
and what might help, is built a 12'x 8' storage shed in the back yard. It
holds bicycles, camping gear, storm windows (when I had them), cottonwood
bark, and... oh yeah! The lawn mower and gardening supplies <G>. Just a
thought...
In my design the front was almost all doors, three of them, and one of them
opened to one third of the shed which was walled off from the rest to keep
the gardening stuff away from the kids and neighbors that played there. The
other two doors would open out, and the kids would temporarily empty out the
bicycles and stuff and use it as a stage for neighborhood "productions".
Since the "stuff" in the front went in and out often it sort of kept it from
stacking up... sort of. Just MTCW.
Good luck with your carving space, it looks like it's coming along real well
so far. Be patient.
Keep on Carvin'
-Mike B.->

Hey there all. I had mentioned my intention to clear out my garage to set up
a carving "workshop" for myself and my family. Well, for my B-Day present
this last weekend my kids helped me clear it all out and begin the process
of turning a one car storage bin (do you have one of those?) into a neatly
organized workshop.
Sounds simple doesn't it?
Then you realize that it has taken you 4 hours just to get all that . . .
stuff . . . dragged out onto the driveway, the floor swept, and you haven't
even started hanging your old kitchen cabinets yet. <sigh> So 90 minutes and
one hung kitchen cabinet later you realize that dinner time is long past and
you still have to put a lot of that "stuff" back into the garage because you
have no other place to put it. <grrrr>
Anyway - I have my photos of the "project" on PictureTrail.com. Check out my
photo album called: "Workshop Project" if you want a good laugh. ;-)

Well, at least I am taking some action and making progress towards my dream
of a fully functional carving and woodworking "shop". One day - Lord
willing - we'll get there.
Cheers all!
Chuck
