I believe that the background stamps used for leathercarving can be used in
place of the textured nails that I think you are referring to ion Bill¹s
book.  They are available through Tandy stores nationwide and probably
through the net as well.  There may be other suppliers as well, but Tandy is
the one I used to use when I worked leather.
