******** Fundraiser for Marnie Whillock *****

Dear Fellow Carvers,

As you might already know one of our carving family, Marnie Whillock,
is still fighting cancer. She is getting ready for another series of
surgeries followed by chemo and perhaps more radiation. The past few
years have been a very difficult time for Marnie and her family both
mentally and financially.

With her surgeries beginning next week I'm again asking for your
support. The positive power of prayer has been demonstrated over and
over again on this carving group. Please take Marnie into your
prayers asking God to grant her the gift of good health.

I'm also asking for contributions. With no insurance Marnie's medical
bills have gone through the roof. Any small contribution will help.
If you send a monetary donation, please know it may be tax deductible
- just ask your accountant. Marnie's account (Marnie Whillock Benefit
at Wells Fargo) is through a non-profit corporation. If you could
afford to send a carving or woodburning to Marnie it would be greatly
appreciated. With Marnie receiving carvings over the next 6 months,
like cane segments and other works from your hands, it would have a
great emotional benefit that Marnie really needs in her fight through
the long months ahead. These items will then be used in fundraising
to help with her medical bills. Please include a suggested retail
value and a short bio (and a photo of yourself if possible) in case
these are used for auctions.

We are looking at different ideas for fundraisers. Fundraisers
traditionally have fallen short of bringing the value these works of
art are worth. If you have ideas for fundraisers or know of methods
that have been successful please tell Marnie or I. Marnie will
continue her duties as Editor of Carving Magazine but I'm guessing
that she will not have much strength left for corresponding and
organizing so perhaps your ideas could be directed to me. However I
ask that you send your carvings directly to Marnie over the next 6
months to help with the emotional support she'll need in her fight.

Marnie's whole family is working hard on more ideas like a golf
tournament and a letter writing campaign to celebrities offering
carvings, one of which will be a History Mantel from me.

I ask your help in storming heaven with your prayers for Marnie's
good health and showering her with works of love from your hands.
Marnie's address is:
