I agree with you Mike, the convenience factor does enter in. I didn't think about that since my unit takes two pens with just a switch to change from one to the other. Most of the time I only use two tips and when I do change tips I consider the time it takes as bit more time to plan what needs to be burned next.

Jan,
Colewood tips come with a special removal tool. Big Dog set me up with them at the Artistry in Wood two years ago. Like I said
its a smart little system that seems to work well <except for my klutziness>, but its still not as efficient as swapping pens at the plug/jack (IMHO).
Sorry I missed you too Woodbutcher. Yvonne and I had a hotel room waiting for us at Niagara Falls Saturday night after the Hamilton Wood Show, or I would have gone up past Toronto, and hunted you down <I KNOW where you live>. Had to eat it all by yourself
sounds like tough situation
Hey, all you had to do was call for support ;-). I did see your wood spirit chair at the OWC
looked even better in the flesh. One of those wood spirits looked like the carver might have been a student of yours
it had that Woodbutcher style J.
Keep on Carvin'

Even when I was patient enough for the tip to cool, removing the thing often launched it across the shop, landing with a ping
