I have fond a place with a large amount of cypress knees & was wondering
what is the best way to harvest them.

Also would it hurt the tree to take some of them--

No it will not harm the trees, they will make more, just don't take them all
at once, the tree needs them to breathe. Take a pull saw, japanese style.
one side fine, other side rough, use which ever side works better. Cut them
just at the water line or a few inches below. Dry your saw off so it doesn't
rust out on you.Take them home and boil them, while the bark is still quite
warm, but cool enough to handle, peel the bark off and it will leave a
beautiful surface which only needs to be waxed to shine like crazy. By the way, I
wouldn't mind getting my hands on some if you have any you'de like to sell.
LOL
