Hi all, now that we are on the topic of workbenches and carving benches. I
built one of each last year out of Oak and maple. I have a set of plans on
my web page for my carving bunch. I found this bench an excellent thing to
have around. That is using it for what I want it to do in the shop, like all
tools “use the right tool for the right job”.

I used to use a travel bench that I made up out of Maple (2ft x 2 ft). Its
was quite a simple bench, just 7/8” thick by 1 ½” maple with a length of 2
ft, all laminated together much like a standard workbench. Then I drilled
holes to add clamps and posts to hold down my carvings. I used this for
several years it’s simple but effective bench, and it’s now seen three
different continents, 12 different countries and two wars, and it’s still
around. I only use it when I travel now that I have the other benches in the
house.
