I use "day light" fluorescent screw in bulbs, you can get them pretty reasonable at Wal-Mart in a wide variety of wattages.
I use them for light which seems a little more easy on the eyes. I also use them in a photo box where I take pictures of my smaller type work.

Hi Don,
I have a floor model 27watt with goose neck which I really like, it appears to be exactly like the one you refer to but I bought it at Sears. My wife loves it and has moved it into her quilting room for the sewing machine.

So I just ordered 2 more from the company that advertises in spring 2006 Carving Magazine ($49) - it is 27 watts which I found adequate but they have a bigger bulb also which may be better for lighting bigger areas?? www.balancedspectrum.com There are several different technologies of "full spectrum" lights and after reading a description of each technologies light characteristics I still couldn't figure out which technology would give the best light for woodcarving so went with the cheapest - which is a lot better than incandescent.

Hello to all,
Quick question for the group. I am looking at the advertisement, in this
months Carving Mag, for Balanced Spectrum lamps-Has anyone used one of these
and how do you like it? I am looking for a new lamp for my wife for her
painting area. She paints with watercolor and pastels most of the time.. (She
even paints carvings for me!)
