Thanks for all those that responded about my lettering project on a relief
carving I'm doing.
I ended up just starting from scratch and printed out letters on the
computer and working them around the circle. I placed a check mark at 1"
intervals on the pattern and then used a long ruler and placed it against a
nail in the center of the pattern and then made a line from the inside of
the circle to the outside of the circle. I then took the letters and
placed 1" marks on the bottom and top of each letter and then cut them apart
and used a Post-It glue stick to stick each letter on the underside of the
pattern. I then traced each letter and then removed the glued letters.
Looks great so far.
I know that most people say to not cut apart a pattern but I feel that I
have to cut the circle of letters out to trace onto the wood in order to
keep them intact and lined up. Any other suggestions?
In case you're interested, I did place updated pictures on my picture
website under Judt carving: www.picturtrail.com/sonomadon.
Thanks again for all the suggestions.
