Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures of the three types of gyrfalcons in the upper Mid-west of the Dakotas.  Their beauty as a bird cannot be matched, with exception to the size of the Eagle.

  ||  Do you have a picture of an adult Gyrfalcon?  I looked on the web for  a short time but I'm not sure what I was looking for.  ||

  Hi Merilee...here are a couple links to some gyr photos. The black morph is considered pretty rare. Gyrfalcons range in color from nearly pure white (the most common form) all the way to black (which is actually a very dark charcoal gray). The Arabs prize the gyrs, and the white gyrs especially, and will pay handsomely for them. The black gyr that I was imprinting came from a breeder that specialized in gyr and gyr crosses and sold to many Arab falconers. Gracie was worth around $25,000.00 (Yes, that's thousand). She was a gift to my friend from the breeder because he lent the breeder his black gyr, Spike, as part of their breeding program.
