[Woodcarver] thumb joint

Has any one on the List had any problems with the thumb joint where it meets 
the wrist.It may be called the Thumb carpometacarpal joint. Not positive 
about that though.I will probably have surgery on both thumbs at some time 
.I will do one at a time of course. Any input would be appreciated. This 
problem is quit painful and it has "cut" into my carving.
