Hi Jan -
Thanks for the kind remarks regarding my Gallery of carvings. Your right about the "deep relief" with my carvings - I jump between relief and sculpture in the round.
Just completing a 2-1/2" thick butternut wood carving of a horse head - this one could have been a sculpture, but instead I made it a high relief. I guess that is why we love carving, we can change when we want to.

Although I am NOT sure if the fall under DEEP relief
Maybe Bill can help us out
I've done some of his patterns and am NOW working on the Canada geese
