[Woodcarver] Sharpening Stones

 I am seeking advice on sharpening stones for gouges.  I am trying to
compare Shapton Pro Ceramic Water Stones with hard black Arkansas stones.
Does anyone know of any drawbacks to the ceramic stones?

Also, other than Woodcarving Illustrated, what carving magazines are out
there.
