larry is right jared, i have everet ellenwood's dvd to , he teaches amazingly and keeps you glued to the screen untill the dvd is over, he is a realy good teacher.

Hi Jared,
I suggest the video on sharpening carving tools by Evert Ellenwood. Excellent instructional material and he might answer your questions. See: http://www.ellenwoodarts.com/main.htm . As a veteran of the sharpening game I would bite the bullet and jump right to diamond stones if I had to do it again. My Arkansas stones now are all idle, my water stones are used strickly for plane blades, but I do occasionally use my ceramics for chip carving knives. Hope this helps.
