Hi Diane,
I'm glad it worked out for you. One thing to consider in the future
is that lacquer is a hotter finish then polyurethane. What that
means is that lacquer will dissolve polyurethane. You probably got
by with it because spray lacquer will dry very quickly before it has
a chance to start dissolving the polyurethane. If you had used a
brushing lacquer you might have ended up with even a bigger mess.
Polyurethane can be used over lacquer but not the other way around.
