Karen,
I too have opened hundreds of golf ballls. The best way to tell if the
are rubber bands or solid is the bounce test. ping = solid, thud =
rubber bands. As for carvability most of the solid core balls are
carveable. Top Flite has various colors in the different styles of balls
and are generally the easier ball to carve. Opening the balls is king of
like opening Christmas presents, you never know what your going to get.
I used to track the colors and now it is just as easy to open them.
