A good (and cheap) place to start would be "How to Carve a Duck Decoy" - A
step by step guide for beginners by Brian McGray. It was published by
Dover.

My name is Brad Taylor and I am looking for some info on carving ducks.
I would like to carve my own decoys to use as gunning ducks. Any pattrns or
books you would recommend would be great. I would even like to take a class
if that is available in the Saskatoon area.
Thanks
"Antique Style Duck Decoys" by Tom Matus. ISBN # 1-56523-298-4 . I
bought my copy at Chapters. This book outlines instructions on carving
decoys in general and specifically on the wood duck drake. Also, Issue 36 of
Woodcarving Illustrated (Fall 2006 issue) has an article, also by Tom, on
carving the wood duck hen.
You can check all the online stores as well, tons of stuff out there. Try
