Hi,
I don't think people are upset about someone trying to make money.
It is more about the way he is going about.
Trying to make people feel guilty is not a way to get help.
It builds resentment in most people.
Things may be bad for him in his country, but things are not always great
here. Most of us have work very hard to get where we are and what we have.
India, or whatever it may have been called, was there long before there was
a US.
Instead of working to make their own country better they look to us for help.
It really should be the other way around.
Asking us to pay for the privilege of helping him seems way out of order.
If you believe you have something worth selling you should be willing to
send a sample of what you are doing.
I can't imagine asking someone to pay me to receive a sample of my work.
I also don't think we should be making excuse for him in the way it is
translated. It is not so much his word's but the attitude that comes through that
is offensive.
Audrey
