BIG DOG!!

Y'all aren't from around here, are ya???   The cod is sacred to 
Massachusetts for two reasons...

Traditionally, the cod was the foundation of the fishing industry in 
Massachusetts.  Salted cod was shipped all over the world at one time, 
not to mention being eaten in staggering quantities here in the 
colonies.  To this end, the cod shown on Maura's site hangs in the 
statehouse in Boston as a reminder of this heritage.

Recently, it is sacred (at least among us curmudeons!) as being 
representative of the state of politics in Massachusetts, the strong 
odor coming from the political arena being simmilar to a cod after 
sitting out on the wharf for a couple of days in the hot sun!! If you 
have ever smelled lobster bait, you will know the fragrance I am 
referring to!! LOL!!!

Great carvings Maura, congrats on making a go of it!!
