[Woodcarver] Fond Memories

Through this list, I just found out that Len Dillon recently had a stroke and that he's not fairing well.  I had the pleasure of sharing a carving with him, Tom Pierce, Joe Brott and Marty Springer (Santa Clause cane in Chip Chats vol. 49 #6 pg35).  Not to slite Tom, Joe or Marty, but Len's Santa is perfect - excellent carving and painting.  

In Chip Chats, his carving is the one on the right next to the cane base.  He considerately turned some cherry stock and gave one base (along with his carving) to each of the other carvers.  Needless to say, I was the one that prospered by the transaction (and with Tom's, Joe's and Marty's, too ;)

I keep it (the cane) out all year.  People see it and always ask about its history.  I enjoy letting them know.
