If you go to www.carvingpatterns.com Laura Irish has some free patterns as well as excellent online tuitorials, all step by step, this is the place I stared several years ago and I reccommend it to anyone.

  I am new to the list.  I have only been carving for about a month now.  I have looked at a lot of the carvings done by  the group here.  They are all awsome. I hope some day I can learn to carve that well.
  Where do you get all of your patterns. I need some for beginners. 
  I love the feeling of working with wood, but need to get me some more equipment to cut out the basic patterns before you start carving.
