I am new to the list. I have only been carving for about a month now. I
have looked at a lot of the carvings done by the group here. They are all
awsome. I hope some day I can learn to carve that well.
Where do you get all of your patterns. I need some for beginners.
I love the feeling of working with wood, but need to get me some more
equipment to cut out the basic patterns before you start carving.

When I teach my classes I will start off with some simple reliefs or signs
because you can start with a simple rectangular piece of wood. There are
patterns all over the internet, just do a search. it would not hurt you to
subscribe to Carving magazine or woodcarving illustrated as they have lots of free
patterns which are good for beginners. you can really learn a lot from the
articles also.
