Merry Christmas Doug,
Actually, the North Woods Nativity is from a book by the same name by Cyndi
Joslyn whose sub-title is Woodworking for Women, published by House of White
Birches. It is not a scene in the woods as the name suggests, but
individual figures. Above and beyond the basic set of 3 are the wise men (no
shephards), woodland animals and trees. I hope I don't offent anybody but
it's not my kind or carving because there are no front, rear nor side views
because the front of the carvings are made using the edge of the block of
wood. I only carved three figures and left out the rest because of the
unusual (at least for me) style. Now, when I carve caricatures, I make my
faces that way, but not the entire body.
