  I have found and I am sure you will, is after you get "there", there is 
going to be another "there" to reach for.
  I still am trying to get "there".And after I get "there" I will find 
another "there" to reach for.I hope I learn from my new mistakes and enjoy 
the journey.
  If you are new to carving, take small steps and practice.Don't get 
frustrated it's only a piece of wood. Like Maura said "save all of your 
carvings.
  I still have some carvings from 14 years ago.I still have goals and I am 
enjoying the journey.

  p.s. if you get an opportunity to take a carving class i am sure you will 
get there more quickly.
