Very nice- most admirable set of photos on your site. You enjoy lots of different types of woodworking- even band saw boxes from the book by LK Ventura. Looks like you did an great job on them. You could make some and then carve on them, but maybe a different style of bs box.
The panel reminds me of those 'all over' carvings by Tangerman. I've always liked that style and someday I'm going to try doing one myself. Your burning of the big cats would be a good subject for a relief carving.

Hi Y'all, greetings from Del Rio TX. We
came down here hoping to escape the nasty NY winter, but the weather hasn't been
what I expected. We are at the Southwind Marina right on the shore of
Amistad Lake created by dams on the Rio Grande River. I have water on 3
sides and can see Mexico through my front window. As you all know I
haven't done much carving since I got my laser engraver, so I brought
along some blanks and tools. I did a few cottonwood bark pieces (no pics)
and am now working on a butternut panel 18X30 with grapes and leaves. I
started with one of Ivan's grape patterns and then used the background (ground)
for additional elements I put in freehand. It's still very much in the
rough, but I would appreciate your comments on the project and my use of
otherwise waste wood. I'll probably add more to the bottom to balance with
the top.. Take a peek if you like.. http://www.PictureTrail.com/razaxnstuff
Thanks, and best regards, Ray Mighells
