Hey Big Al,
We will have the book Donna is talking about when we come to your show in
Plover, WI on the 17th and 18th of March.
If you can wait that long (I know that's asking a lot!), you will have a chance
to look it over and see if it fits the bill.
Our best to Sweet Sue!

Manzanita root is hard as a rock. It has interesting natural shape and makes
good bases for carvings. I have seen some small turnings made with manzanita.
I'm sure you can not carve it with hand tools, but it could be power carved. I'm
not sure if the tree wood is as hard, but I'd guess it is.
As for woodburning faces I know of a good book by Nedra Denison that I bought
from her.

Hello Everyone,
I have just come into the possession of a piece of Manzanita and am not quite
sure what to do with it, if anything. Is it carvable? Does anyone have any
experience dealing with it? Any and all answers would be greatly appreciated.
And since this is such a diverse, multi-talented group of artists I have another
question. Does anyone know of a book that shows how to woodburn
portraits/faces? Again, any and all answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You!!!
Al Pilsl
