First the intro: I'm a VERY new carver, got a starter set for Christmas and minor cuts soon after that, and ordered a Kevlar glove soon after that. lol I've been dabbling with woodworking for years but never really had the time, space, patience, or equipment to do anything great. Since I live around New Orleans and don't have a garage, work shed, etc. it's not easy to do any work outside because of the weather. Dragging tools in and out all day, especially with the heat and humidity is not fun so I have to wait for 'perfect' weather which doesn't happen very often on a weekend. Now for the Carveright. It looks like it'll do nice work and a hand carver could probably tell the 'carvings' were machine made but the regular person might not. Thoughts I have about it would be how easy is it to keep clean even though it has a dust port it'll still get messy over time. Why did they have a special memory card made for it? Why not just save the files to a USB drive that is so common now? I guess that might be a money maker for them when the card gets lost, broken or the same for the writer part. I would like to see higher resolution images on the Results page to really get an idea of the detail it can do. "The Probe" sounds interesting for repair and restoration work even though the name sounds a little funny. lol I'd expect to see the Carveright and it's work at craft fairs soon. As for the list activity... Like I said in the beginning, I'm new to carving to and just joined the list and will input my 2 cents whenever appropriate, and hopefully not when inappropriate. lol For the most part I'll be lurking.
