Those could not possibly be the first 5 finished carvings you have done- could 
they? I've done a few and I would be proud to have done as good a job as you 
did. Excellent work. I hope you will let us know here when you finish the wood 
duck. I'm sure it will be as good as the others. You sure got their essential 
gesture and expression good.

Thank you so much for all your comments Donna. I think that you were in the chat area last Tuesday when I tried to send a link from the magazine of some photos that I posted long ago. The links would not work so after the chat, I created an account on webshots in order to share my work with anyone that was interested.
 
The carvings that are on my webshots site are the only ones that I have done to date. These 5 carvings were created in the following order:
 
1) Rainbow Trout
2) Pair of Cardinals
3) Loon with baby
4) Quail
5) Kestral
6) Wood Duck (as yet unpainted)
 
I have always had an interest in woodcarving it seems but, have only recently decided to act on that interest. I will be retiring soon and since my wife is disabled, I needed to have a hobby that I could do in the house. I have joined the Kansas City Woodcarving Club although I can not be as active as I would like to be. At the moment, my wife and I are in the process of selling our home and moving so it may be a while until I can get back to the Wood Duck. When I finally have him finished, I will make sure to post the finished photos.
