Hi Maura,

I have a copy of Monty Kennedy's "Checkering and Carving of Gunstocks" and
if you haven't had a better offer to you personally, I would be glad to send
you my copy. I think I bought it at the Half Price Book store in Madison,
WI just because it was a carving book and I can't resist a carving book
unless really badly done. Anyway, it has been on my shelf for about 6 years so
chances I'd attack a stock of my husbands is pretty remote. I do admire
your work and your vision and self directed confidence so you would get much
more use out of it than my timid carving nature will allow so how bout I send it
to you.

Caviat: I'd like to see the finished work when you are done. On your
web...let me know to look and see it.

Maybe you have had a better offer...if not let me know where to send it and
I will get it off to you in a day or two.

Yes Bill and Patti, this is just too sweet an offer to refuse. I insist on
at least paying the shipping though. I will send you out some dough when
you tell me how much. And you don't know how much I will appreciate it. I
myself am a big carving book junky so if theres anything that your interested in,
I'm sure I might have something for you. I can't wait to try carving
gunstocks. I am excited about it.

and as a contributor to "the state of woodcarving........ you may be happy
to know that it is my intent to try to get it into print some time this year.
maybe even add a few more chapters to it... Thanks again
