I have carved quite a few gun stocks, but not in a long time. I use to use Fajen stocks, because they had some pretty fancy wood. I did a thumbhole stock for a .264 magnum and then carved antelope on the off side of the stock. Since I am now 79 years old I just the last year sold all of my 26 guns. Fitting the gun to the stock was a matter of removing a small amount of wood and then trying it. I usually resorted to using glass to fit the action and free floated the barrel.
