I just got these for Christmas this year and I heartily agree. I am reading
my way through Vol 1 and am really impressed with Chris' writing and
clarity, and I am gaining an understanding now of exactly the question that
kicked of the Gouges thread - what are all of these shapes and profiles for?
Also - just noticed that Woodcraft is having a sale through the end of month
on Pfeil (Swiss Made) chisels and gouges - for each order over $100 you get
a $25 Gift Cert. Essentially a 25% discount. Whoo whoo! I am hoping that I
can take some of my severance money (if I nail down a position in the next
couple weeks) and pick up a few or even the basic set that Chris Pye
recommends for basic relief carving.
Also - on another note. My job search is going really well and I will be
interviewing with a company next Tuesday that is within a couple miles of
the American Woodcarving School in Wayne NJ. Yee ha!!! So if I end up there
- I'll be looking to enroll possibly in the spring. Anyone on the list from
the NJ/NY area ever gone there?
Cheers all!
Chuck
