Bill,
http://www.myfamily.com has a great system for setting up groups to
display photos and share comments. Take a look at the World of Wood
Turners family photos. Essentially you create a "family" and invite people
to join. Each than gets an area to display photos. It working really great
for wood turners. I think it is a bit more user friendly than Smug Mug. I
haven't done a deep comparison but having looked at both I like My Family
better. Just my 2 cents.

Hi Bill,
I have been using SmugMug for a while now and find it very good. You can
check out my site at the link below to view pictures of my carvings in
different kinds of light and focus.
I hope it helps.
All the best.
Clive.

Gentle Subscribers:
Following Byron K's advice, I've spent considerable time searching out a
suitable online photo gallery service to use in conjunction with out
mailing list.
The idea is to offer ALL list subscribers the opportunity to post images
of their best carvings to an online gallery, for the WORLD and their
friends and relatives - as well as fellow carvers - to see. SmugMug is the
gallery service I've chosen. It is a pay-for-service site of exceedingly
high quality, ad free, etc.
I am in the testing stage... so I need four high quality images of
completed projects in each of the following categories:
Relief
Caricature
Chip Carving
Canes
Wild Fowl
Aquatic
Christmas and Santa's
I want to upload these images to the site to TEST the viability of these
galleries to serve the members of Woodcarver Mailing List. I want to know
if:
1. I can handle the work involved
2. The galleries are easy to access...
3. The galleries serve the List members with a comprehensive site for
images
So... if you have GOOD images from one of the categories, above, please
contact me to arrange for images to be sent to my email address.
Just so you know... the images need to be:
1. Clear
2. Well lighted
3. Under 6MB in file size (this should be no problemo, dude!)
4. Emailed to MY EMAIL ADDRESS
5. Only sent to my address AFTER you make arrangements with me.
We need to do this in the next couple of days. OK?
For more information about SmugMug, go to:
http://www.smugmug.com
Also... take a look at the gallery I've created for "member portraits",

Hope to hear from you,
Bill
