[Woodcarver] Harvesting Cottonwood

Steve,

I purchased some cottonwood slabs and they are excellent for carving.
It's similar to poplar or alder. If you plan on power carving, it
works well for that but it stinks when you carve it.

I've never carved cottonwood bark but I would recommend milling the
wood and drying it to carve. Yes, you would want to paint the ends
to minimize checking.
