[Woodcarver] Painting

I had a similar use for old half-finished carvings. I'll use them in my classes as bases for demoing different techniques and effects. Some of them are 10 years old- but if I decided to finish them sometime I would just carve away the paint or paint over it.

Dan,

Just as a suggestion; Make up a bunch of
little simple carvings you dash off quickly.

Then, once you've got them experiment with the various techniques
suggested until you

find
the one for you. It won't HURT when one gets ruined cause you won't have too
much

invested but the wood will have been carved so you'll see the different
effects.

I would like to thank everyone who helped me
with your input on the painting thread. I am definately going to try my hand
at painting again with the helpful tips you all gave me. Hopefully I'll be
able to master it. Practice makes perfect they say. Also, a big thank you to
Bill for this List. I glean a lot of helpful hints from it. I am pretty much
a lurker on the list but maybe I'll be able to post a few pics when I think
I'm getting the hang of the painting thing. Thanks again! Dan
