I saw a sign on the highway in South Dakota advertising a big woodcarving
museum or gallery in Custer. We're probably going to try to stop on the way
back through there anyway, but I wondered if anyone on the list has ever seen
it before and if you would recommend it. I am still a more or less beginning
carver and my husband isn't carving yet, but appears to be interested in
trying it. Please advise if anyone knows anything about it. We'll still be here
for another 7 or 8 days before we start our return trip.
Thanks in advance,
Arkansas Fran
Hi Fran--I have stopped there a few times on the way out to WY. It is
interesting. The CCA carvings are a real treat to see. Keith is a member of the
CCA. Also if you are in that area--Just north of there in Hill City SD they
have some outstanding art galleries. Great paintings and some excellent
sculptures. It is well worth spending time in that area. Have a good and safe
trip.
