[Woodcarver] Evart Roundup

Hi Sally,

It sure was great seeing you and Dave. Also Ol' Don and Sandie Roosa. There were sure a lot of old friends and I made some new ones. I was very tied after giving a seminar Thursday night, teaching all day Friday and 1/2 day Saturday then driving 6 hours home. It was worth it. I plan to head back to the Evart Roundup again next year.

I was able to talk up Carving Magazine, and the Whillock Carv-Fest. I thing a few might sign up for the Carving Cruise in October. I also think I got a few more to come to the GOW the week of September 17th.

These events along with the magazine do a lot of good in helping people get started, as well as advance their skills, in woodcarving. Sandie Holder and I were talking about how fulfilled these people are. Never once did we hear mention of the prescriptions they were talking or complain of their pains. Over 500 carvers and big smiles as far as the eye could see. They walked around like big sponges absorbing it all in.

Another GREAT Roundup!!! It was so-o-o good to see Joe and other friends again. We had only two days (instead of 4) and had to leave for family gathering. But the crowds were there and still coming in. I'm wondering what the final tally was??? The Osceola Fairgrounds are looking absolutely wonderful with all the new improvements...walk-in showers, big restrooms, banquet hall.

I still think a TV crew should do a documentary on how the small town of Evart holds these major events. They really bring in the crowds. The next one is the dulcimer fest. I hear they fill up 3 counties plus. Folks come to the Woodcarvers Roundup and stay for the Dulcimer Fest.

Hats off to Sandy Holder and the whole Roundup team. Well done!
Sally

Sharon and I are off to the Evart Roundup. I hope to see lots of you there. It's always an awesome time when a bunch of woodcarvers make wood chips together.

I'm going to be seeing a lot of my old friends and making some new friends. I'm so excited.
