Carvn nuttin! On day 5 of our 10 week trip, fell and broke my left wing,

and checking out everyone's great pictures of carvings. Make some chips for

Awwwwww Patti, what a terrible thing, Having been thru broken bones and
such, consider yourself on a bit of a hiatus. use the time to plan out your
next masterpiece. the more you involve yourself in the design, the more excited
you will become about it and you will be chomping at the bit when you are
cleared to carve again. Carving at first may be slow till you gain your
strength back but it will be good physical therapy for you. Rest up friend, enjoy
your excuse to take it easy. Time will heal.

as for my checkering, did make a nice design, but my attempt at checkering
was pretty awful, not something I want to share with anyone yet. What I have
learned is that the surface must be absolutely flat, almost at a finished
state before checkering can be done or else anything uneven will be seen as a
mess in the checkering area. Kind of different than carving where the
finishing waits till the carving is completed. I will be making another attempt
shortly. will let you know if I fare any better. I will not let it defeat me but
right now feel a bit humbled by it.
