So Sally- are you doing the translations yourself- using a computer program? They are limited- they keep calling my husband, Ray, Strahl- like a ray of sunlight. I can help with proofreading the German if you need it.

Hi Joe, thanks for asking "whatyadoing?" Jan usually asks whatchacarving and I'm not carving anything (sigh). I'm writing!!! David has me locked in the back room until we get this book finished. He is passing food through the door. I'm allowed to look out the window to see the bluebirds nesting, chickadees chasing Jenny Wren away from their nest box, etc.
We realized we were getting nowhere by writing a few pages on our book and then traveling to a woodcarving show or traveling to teach a class. We had to make a blank space in our schedule to focus, focus, focus on getting this through to completion. Therefore, cometh my chain bolted to the desk. I'm allowed to come out and talk to fan carvers (briefly) that are traveling through our area.
Writing in English for several other languages is quite interesting and VERY time consuming. Some words don't translate well. We try to be conscious and respectful of that. So sentences are rewritten...maybe a photo will suffice. Photos for carving steps are the best so little text is needed. In that case, less is best. But telling the history is another story.
I am drowning in umlauts and accents marks. These squiggly's have me cross-eyed. The brain is dull gray now. Almost ready to send up SOS flares.
Thanks for asking, Joe. Have a wonderful trip. You are always involved in interesting things.
Best
Sally
