[Woodcarver] Fan Bird

Wow, Gene. Would love to see a photo! Unfortunately, it is the
nature of the fine blades to break up over time. That is one reason
the fan bird has lost it's way. Another reason is that when a region
came under communist rule the carvers were not allowed to make the
Dove-of-Peace. Some fan-carvers continued to make the "good-luck
bird." But most carvers (to avoid problems) put it down.

It is quite an education (and very humbling) to travel through those
regions and learn their history. It certainly makes us appreciate
the USA all the more. (smiling)
