Wow!  Thank you all for your comments about "Babushka"...I'm 
overwhelmed by the response.
For those who asked, I keep a file of reference pictures.  She is a 
conglomerate of several of those,  a couple of artist anatomy books 
that show musculature involved in aging, and memory.  Unfortunately, 
most of the books have lots of information on aging male faces, but 
not so much on female faces.   I did get very lucky with the grain in 
that piece of bark.  It's always nice when that happens!
