[Woodcarver] Carvers block

There seems to be two approaches to selling. One is to try to find a
product that people will buy and manufacture that product, the other is to
do what you like to do and then try to find people who would like to own
what you like to do.
Many artists, I believe, fall into the latter category. Their compulsion is
to create; they try sell their works so that they can keep on creating.
Carvers can fall into either of the categories. Some search for a product
people will buy, others carve what they love and hope potential buyers will
love it too.
Which category best describes you? Are there things you love to carve and
hope you can find an audience for, or are you searching for a product that
you are sure people will buy?
