Try a small fan close to your work but pointed away from you and the work. It doesn't take much of a breeze to pull the smoke away. Also, you can reduce the amount of smoke my burning cooler and going over several times areas you want dark.

Just started (actually tried) some woodburning. My meager efforts indicate that I need many, many hours of practice and that I will have
many many questions to pose.
My first question is, "What do you do with the smoke?" Now remember I just started... I don't want someone to tell me that I need the 'XXQ
Ultra Smoke Remover' for $1000 ( with $25 filters that last 20 minutes)
And I live in New England so I don't want to take my nice warm room-air and blow it out the nearest window.
Answers anyone (???) or should I forget about woodcarving/woodburning an take up a hobby of "sniggling". (Anyone know what that is??)
Thanks in advance... cough ...cough... cough...
