I finally finished my relief carving from Bill Judt's carving
class last June. Bill helped with the design layout as well as the carving
process and his class was a great experience - don't miss the chance to go to
one if you get the opportunity. Although I put in 10 - 12 hours per day in
the class I still had some lettering, details, clean-up work and finishing to do
at home. I also had to get a proper vise and bench set up to hold
the carving before doing anything - and to make a small mallet for doing the
stamping work around the letters. I sure learned a lot in Bill's class and
am looking forward to another. This was hard work but I am pleased with
the carving, which I named "Free Spirit". It was done for my sister and
her husband who are lay ministers and have be active in prison
ministry. This carving is shown in the first 3 photos in
