I am assuming that this is your bed???? Yes.   my advice is to  either make 
it really generic or very personal.  Two extremes but both  should be 
considered.  Generic is good if you ever sell it or pass it  down.  Either a 
nature,wildlife, landscapy thing, acanthus leaf  pattern,geometric type patterns or any 
combination of such.  If you do not  care about the future and the possibility 
of someone else getting it, then I  would make it personal.  Either a 
heritage type of design or using objects  that are special to you.  sounds like a 
cool project.  enjoy and keep  us updated.   Oh.....and glad to hear from you.  
You must be a  very busy boy. are you married yet???
