[Woodcarver] four poster carved bed

Hi Harry
  I'm looking to make a bedhead for our house - a 4 poster would be too much for our type of house and decor.
  My wife has outlined what she would like and now I'm going to start drafting designs.
  Centre of the bedhead will be the claddagh symbol - scrolls on each side, then hearts on the outside edges. Might also try and include thistles and roses somewhere in the design as I'm a Scot and my wife is English. 
  I'm hoping that the design process will be a lot of fun.
  I'm new to carving so shall be looking for lots of support from the woodcarving group that I attend weekly. Without them I don't think I'd take this on at all.

    I am assuming that this is your bed???? Yes.   my advice is to either make it really generic or very personal.  Two extremes but both should be considered.  Generic is good if you ever sell it or pass it down.  Either a nature,wildlife, landscapy thing, acanthus leaf pattern,geometric type patterns or any combination of such.  If you do not care about the future and the possibility of someone else getting it, then I would make it personal.  Either a heritage type of design or using objects that are special to you.  sounds like a cool project.  enjoy and keep us updated.   Oh.....and glad to hear from you.  You must be a very busy boy. are you married yet???
